Spring cleaning up my diet

It’s spring time and if you’ve been following me on social media, you may have noticed that I’ve been spring cleaning my house.  It’s all kinds of a mess but when I was done it was all kinds of great!  I packed up my winter clothes, throw away things I didn’t need anymore and just cleared the clutter.  My house is in order so now I need to spring clean my diet.

It’s spring time so a lot of great things are back in season.  I’ve really been enjoying the fact that I can have all the watermelon in the world now.  Plus, it’s time to get back in the zucchini squash frame of mind.  Willie and I both have been trying to clean up our diets and this was the perfect time to the refresh.

What kinds of things am I looking to clean up in my diet? I’m really trying to eliminate all refined carbs.  Those are the crackers, bagels, pretzels…just things like that.  Those things are usually my snack fillers.  I try to limit these foods in general, but sometimes it gets out of hand.  So really, I’m trying to eliminate these from my diet.

So what did I replace it with? Eggland’s Best Eggs are becoming a staple in the diet.

England's best

I used to have a greek yogurt and refined carb of choice for a snack, but after talking to Willie I decided I was in need of a change up. My biggest reason for the change up was not having a filling snack. I noticed I would be very hungry by the time lunch rolled around.

The Hard-Cooked Peel eggs come in packs of 2, 6, and 10!  I haven’t spotted the 10 pack but the 6 count is a staple on our grocery list.

I knew I needed something more, so I decided to try a salad with Eggland’s Best hard-cooked peeled eggs. I use one egg (only 60 calories) in my salad and put a few grape tomatoes in it. I have to say these eggs are totally worth the buy because it’s convenient. I didn’t have to worry about boiling the eggs, making sure the eggs were cooked all the way through and I didn’t have to worry about peeling the egg. Sometimes, it’s best to go with the convenient grab and go option. You know that’s what I’m all about.

Egg lands best
This salad totally holds me over lunch time and it’s nothing processed and less calories than what I was eating before. But it keeps my full! The Eggland’s Best Eggs provide a great source of protein to help with that full feeling, but I’m also getting more vitamins, compared to other eggs.  Eggland’s Best Eggs have 25% less saturated fat, 10 times the amount of vitamin E and double the Omega-3’s, compared to other eggs.

For me, it’s a matter of eating a snack that will give back to my body and this salad with Eggland’s Best Eggs seems to be a smart choice.
